Greg Duke, Executive Director of the Concho Valley Regional Food Bank (CVRFB) was our speaker this morning.
The CVRFB is 1 of 18 program providers for the United Way of the Concho Valley.  It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and relies on the goodness people and companies to help fulfill its mission to stamp out hunger.
While the Food Bank does not distribute food directly to individuals, it does distribute to any 501(c)(3) non-profit agency with a food program, or planning to start a food program. Agencies pay a small shared maintenance fee to offset the costs for solicitation, pick up, inspections, ware housing and distribution.
The CVRFB is currently working with several Independent School Districts to provide food for students.  These include San Angelo ISD, Grape Creek ISD, Miles ISD, Veribest ISD, and Wall ISD.  There are approximately 800 kids served at these schools.
