In the final days of the old year, it's a good time to look back at what another year has brought and consider what lies ahead. At BikeTexas, we are thankful for you and all you've done in 2017.
You have made an impact on active transportation in Texas. Here's some of what you've done this year:
  • After many attempts, the statewide bill banning texting while driving is now law.
  • While unsuccessful, the Iris Stagner Safe Passing Law and Vision Zero earned the support of many legislators and interest groups, setting the stage for 2019.
  • Many of you visited legislative offices as part the successful ninth Cyclists in Suits at the legislature.
  • Travis County and City of Dallas bond elections secured over $80 million in multi-use trail funding.
  • Harris County Precinct One will fund more bicycle accommodations.
  • Over 1000 children participated in BikeTexas KidsKup at Earth Day Texas in Dallas and Siclovia in San Antonio.
  • Ebike rides and demonstrations in multiple cities reached over 200 adults, all experiencing ebikes for the first time.
  • BikeTexas participated as a beneficiary non-profit in the inaugural Dallas Bike Ride.
  • BikeTexas participated in a major pitch for Amazon HQ2, including engineering, government affairs, and media work.
As a member of BikeTexas, you spark action and innovation in biking and walking around Texas, empower our community leaders to create more trails and protected bike lanes, and fuel partnerships to benefit us all.
Now's a great time to join BikeTexas or upgrade your membership, and continue making a difference in biking and walking around the state. We're thankful for you and all you do to make Texas a great place to ride a bike!
With thanks,
